View Point: Bringing Education Online!
View Point: A Virtual Education Series is a new Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC) initiative that was developed this spring.
In response to the new world of COVID-19 and concern for the safety of our community members, all 2020 FBC in-person educational events have been postponed. However, we know how vital learning about the latest in vision research is to our community, and from this interest to stay connected and informed, View Point was launched.
Between April and June 2020, we held nine View Point webinars, featuring guest speakers from across the country. Speakers discussed a wide range of topics, including age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal diseases, low vision aids, genetics, stem cells, and lived experience in the time of COVID-19. To date, View Point webinars have been viewed by over 1,700 people across Canada and the world!
In addition to learning valuable information, participants of each webinar also enjoyed the opportunity to engage with vision field experts and ask the experts top questions surrounding new and exciting research developments, and more.
