Since 1974, Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC) has funded the best, most promising vision research to advance new treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases. This investment means that there are effective treatments that can prevent or slow vision loss for many eye diseases.
But there is still more to do for the 1.2 million Canadians who live with vision loss. With continued support from FBC’s generous community, we invest in research to understand, preserve, and restore vision.

Creating a Brighter Future
Research has already made significant impacts on Canadians living with vision loss. New treatments have helped slow down the progress of blinding eye disease, and more work remains to be done. While we fund the discovery of new treatments, we also provide programs for those living with vision loss so they can become empowered and connected.
World-class Research
Thanks to such research, 75 per cent of vision loss is preventable or treatable with timely check-in. We know more can be done, and we fund leading edge vision research, including early career and world-renowned researcher.
Trusted Education
Our View Point education series brings the latest information about vision health and research, community resources and living well with an eye disease through in-person conferences and online webinars.
Essential Connections
Learning that you have a blinding eye disease can be a lonely and frightening experience. Our Young Leaders Program helps connect those facing vision loss with others facing similar challenges, and our Health Information Line helps people find answers to their questions.
