Gavin Morrison: Lighting a Path for Others

Inspired by his mom’s efforts to raise funds and awareness for sight-saving research, Gavin Morrison too felt he needed to contribute to help those who, like him, were living with vision loss.

Gavin was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease when he was five years old. This spurred his mom, Ann Morrison, to take an active role in fundraising. She launched Fighting Blindness Canada’s Comic Vision fundraiser and went on to work at FBC for 20 years. This inspired Gavin to also volunteer his time and work with other young visually impaired people. Gavin has been a member of FBC’s Young Leaders program since it launched.

“From organizing networking events, to speaking at fundraisers, I see firsthand the impact of building a support network.”
